If, for the sake of argument, the expulsion of the Hykos is taken as the Exodus event, then we have Ipuwer appearing potentially hundreds of years before, and The Quarrel of Apepi and Seqenenre composed by Pentaweret appearing several hundreds of years after the expulsion of the Hyksos, though, as can be told from the title, deals specifically with this event. For such an erudite and in depth discussion it is to be noted that the Papyrus of Ipuwer does not make an appearance, I wonder why, could it be that it has no bearing whatsoever on Exodus.
Plague was not uncommon in Egypt, or anywhere else, and apart from that, the use of the word has two meanings, one for the disease, and one for anything that disturbs Ma'at, or any form of isfet, chaos.įor a discussion on Exodus I suggest reading "The Invention of Religion" by Jan Assmann.
